Flappy Pappy – Launch Devlog #1: Taking Flight

Hey everyone!

I’m proud to officially launch my first browser-based indie game:

✨ What is Flappy Pappy?

Flappy Pappy is a fast-paced, retro-style arcade game where you take control of the world’s most determined grandpa. With wings, a dream, and zero chill, Pappy flaps his way through chaotic pipes, unlockable skins, and that classic “one more try” energy.

• ✅ Built in Phaser 3

• ✅ Works great on mobile and PC

• ✅ Free to play (with optional tips — shoutout to the first tipper ever 🥹)

🧠 Why I Built It

I made Flappy Pappy as my first real solo project. I wanted to push myself to:

• Build something I could actually publish

• Learn how to polish gameplay and visuals

• Figure out the whole “launching a real game” thing from scratch

The idea came from a chaotic combo of humor and nostalgia — and somehow it turned into a game that already made its first donation within 24 hours of launch. That blew me away.

🚧 What’s Next?

I’m currently working on:

• 🧱 New skin unlock system

• 🎯 Gamepad support

• 🏆 Local high score tracking (leaderboard soon?)

• 📱 Mobile fullscreen polish

• 📣 Reddit + social media rollout
